Most agents would have you believe that buying and selling real estate is complicated and very complex and so this justifies the excessive fees charged by most agents.
NOTHING COULD BE FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH!
In fact as of MARCH 15, 2018 the agent or team of agents that lists your home/property will not be allowed to also sell your home/property, it will have to be sold by another agent unrelated to the listing. In yet another failure to protect the people of this province the real estate council has now changed the effective date to June 15, 2018. Buyers and Sellers beware of Dual Agency!
This practice (double ending, limited dual agency) should never have been allowed in the first place and it has taken far too long for the government to stop this practice.
So now you have to ask the question why would you pay an excessive fee (7% on the first $100,000 and 3% on the balance of the sale price) to list your house/property when the listing agent can’t even sell your house/property.
